Two Victims Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who died in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant carried on following the discharge by local law enforcement of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also posted sympathies online, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

What Happened

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the engineering building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the Associated Press.

Officers that searched the lodging found two handguns and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Regarding the nine injured, one student was released from the hospital, mentioned the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in serious yet stable state, and one remained in critical care, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “She was famed for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and fellow classmates,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and peers and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
