The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the full worth of frozen Russian holdings to aid the Ukrainian military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany emphasized that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.

They added that the move would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.

UK restrictions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian assets since the Russian government initiated its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, previously, money provided to Ukraine using Russian funds had solely been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the immobilized Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He noted that more measures over the next period would apply more pressure on Russia.

This declaration follows European leaders met in the Danish capital recently to debate employing frozen Russian funds for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.
