The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
