As Thanksgiving approaches, the lineup of balloons for the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been unveiled. Enthusiasts of the popular animated series KPop Demon Hunters have something exciting to look forward to, as fan-favorite mascots Sussie and Derpy Tiger are scheduled to make an appearance as giant balloons.
The parade takes place each year in the heart of New York, showcasing an impressive variety of inflatable figures from various pop-culture franchises. Previous appearances have included characters ranging from SpongeBob SquarePants and Scooby-Doo to popular anime series like Dragon Ball and One Piece.
Meet the Mascots: Derpy Tiger and Sussie
These two adorable animal mascots are featured in the hit animated show KPop Demon Hunters. Within the series' plot, Huntr/x is a K-pop girl group by day and a team of demon slayers by night, harnessing their musical power to repair the Honmoon and protect the human world from invading demons. Much like Huntr/x and the Saja Boys, Derpy and Sussie have won the hearts of fans worldwide and are sure to be a memorable highlight for families and fans alike during the parade.
A Stellar Year for KPop Demon Hunters
One could easily claim that 2025 has been the year of KPop Demon Hunters. This animated feature from Sony has risen to number one as the most-watched film on Netflix, received five nominations at the Grammys, and the singing stars behind Huntr/x—Rumi, Mira, and Zoey's voice actors—recently performed on a major late-night show, presenting a stunning Honmoon-worthy act.
Adding to the excitement, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami are also scheduled to perform live during the Thanksgiving Day festivities. Audiences can look forward to a show-stopping musical number from the group.
What's Next for the Franchise?
An upcoming sequel, KPop Demon Hunters 2, is said to be in the works, with a expected debut in 2029. While it's a long wait, the immense popularity for the first movie indicates that fans will gladly wait for a sequel that lives up to the original success. For now, everyone can look forward to the incredible inflatable versions of Derpy Tiger and Sussie at the holiday parade.
