Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but will the Premier League leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' new record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend soccer side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only away win this season came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four games.

My son advised me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have got lots of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
