Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Police said that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities stated.
Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a security uniform shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down a short distance away.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the crime scene.
