Fans Call for Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who leaped a barrier and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her May 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said another comment on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested digital services to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual version of the well-known stage production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two very different witches.
The show itself is a spin-off of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned ten Academy Award nods, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
