Adult Swim's Premier New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often marked by cynicism, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about watching this endearing family go about their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to help comedy break out of its current sarcastic tone. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well catalyze that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to enjoy the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
