In a bizarre partnership that breaks traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine group.

The mission concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Additional Features

Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an unique katana alongside numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Latest Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's third free story content, titled "The Enigma." The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
